Day in the Yard Program Starting Soon

Begins October 10, 2022, for 7 weeks of Zoom classes followed by the taped class for you to watch if you missed the class or re-watch for deeper understanding.

Dear Fellow Gardeners,

Our popular Day in the Yard program is set to begin Oct. 10. For the cost of $75, you will receive seven Zoom sessions on gardening in Zone 8 and learn lots about how to be successful in our coastal North Carolina environment.  Each Zoom session is taped and sent to you for watching again if you missed the “live” Zoom session or for re-watching it up to a week to make sure you don’t miss a thing from each session. Taught by Brunswick County Extension Master Gardener volunteers and Extension staff, session topics are as follows:  Intro/Soil Fundamentals, Turf and Fertilization, Insects/Diseases/Integrated Pest Management, Growing Vegetables, All About Woody Ornamentals, Annuals and Perennials that Grow Well Here, and Native Plants in the Landscape.

Registration for 2022 Day in the Yard is now open on Eventbrite at Day in the Yard Registration: Eventbrite so consider registering today. Also, please be aware that 2022 Day in the Yard participants will be invited to fill slots FIRST in our popular House Calls program next spring. This is where Master Gardeners come to you for answering questions about your home landscape and gardens as well as making “right plant, right place” suggestions. Often these limited House Calls slots are filled ONLY with Day in the Yard participants because of limited availability.

If you have questions, feel free to email bcmgvat@gmail.com.

As always, happy gardening!

Wanda Maggart

President, Brunswick County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Association

P.S. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon and come to the Brunswick County Botanical Demonstration Garden hosted by the Extension Master Gardeners. In addition to seeing plants that grow well here in 15 different outdoor spaces, Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand for sharing information and answering your questions. Some plants will also be available for purchase until they sell out. The Demonstration Garden is in the Brunswick County Government Center, 25 Referendum Drive, Bolivia, near Building M.
