Online Pollinator Plant Sale Opens Sept 5 - 9

We are working into the ā€œDog Daysā€ of summer, folks! But, just around the corner is the glorious fall season. Anticipating your desire to get some fall plants in the ground and support our pollinators, the Brunswick County Master Gardeners Volunteer Association (BCMGVA) is thrilled to announce our Fall Online Plant Sale.

This is a great opportunity to purchase perennial plants which are perfect for a pollinator garden, are heat, drought, and deer resistant and just look nice as additions to your fall season displays. The sale will be online and will open Friday, September 5th and run through Tuesday, September 9th. Specific attention has been given to offering plants which support pollinators, butterfly gardens, rain gardens, and plants which are native to our region and salt and drought tolerant.

Plant pick-up will be on Friday, September 12th at the BCMGVA lot inside the Brunswick County Government Complex. Additional plants will be offered for sale at pick-up and we will have an ā€œAsk a Master Gardenerā€ booth and printed materials available to aid in your gardening efforts in Brunswick County. So, get your questions ready!

Our Botanical Gardens are here to inspire you

Brunswick County Master Gardenerā„  Volunteers and Cooperative Extension staff maintain an extensive Botanical Garden conveniently located around the N.C. Cooperative Extension building in the Brunswick County Government Center in Bolivia, NC. It’s open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the public to enjoy. No reservations are necessary.

Our garden is not only a beautiful place to visit, but also serves as a demonstration garden with ideas for plants in different growing conditions, garden layout and so much more. As many homeowners have moved to Brunswick County from somewhere else, our Cooperative Extension strives to help newcomers understand what they are able to grow here in our Zone 8 Coastal Plain and help everyone create their own beautiful spaces.

From a pollinator garden to a curb appeal garden to a rain garden that helps manage storm water, our 16 separate garden areas are designed to inspire visitors with how to achieve ā€œgarden magicā€ in their own backyards. Often, visitors will find Master Gardeners at work maintaining the garden, or garden docents leading tours and educational programs, offering insights into the plants, history, and conservation efforts of the garden.
